Traveling to Vancouver in two days - Part 4
Day Two - Morning: Granville Island
Granville Island has this amazing enclosed Farmer's Market, a good kids play place and a street with artists and art-studios.
We left around 10:30 AM for Granville Island, which was a very short walk and then a short boat ride from hotel. The round-trip boat ride costs ~$5 / adult and it's 5-7m. We reached there around 11:00 AM.
If you are traveling with children, check out Kid's place first. There, they have an enclosed slide and play area where for $10, you get a day entry for kids to play. When you check-in, the child and you receive a matching token number. They'll let the children in through the singly entry/exit door and won't let them out until you come back with the matching token number.
Also, they allow multiple entries throughout the day.
Do plan around lunch and children's toilet breaks.
The Kid's palace play area allows you to explore the island by yourself, and the children to enjoy playing in the play area.
You should start a little early than we did, otherwise you'll be late for the Chinese Garden (see details below). Here's what I suggest:
- 10:00 AM - 11:30 PM: Drop children off and explore the Farmer's market and other areas.
- Find interesting places that you would want to eat. I suggest The Soup Company's soup - they two or three hearty, healthy options. There are a lot of other very good and interesting places though so look around.
- 11:30 PM - 12:00PM: Pick up children and come back to the Farmer's market for Lunch
- 12:00 - 1:00 PM: Lunch
- 1:15 to 2:30 PM: Drop off children and explore the art studio's and artist's lane.
- 2:45 PM: Pick up children and start return journey.
